Law Practice on the Cloud

It is now possible (and practical) to host your entire law practice on the cloud at a price point that is compelling. This is especially well suited (but not exclusively so) for lawyers who are launching new practices. But compelling economics is just the beginning of the story. The real driver for hosting your practice on the cloud, one that will become more apparent over time, is that enabling technologies within a set of established core components will eventually transform the way law is practiced and reduce the costs associated with hardware, software, and technical support. How? By changing the manner in which lawyers, clients, support staff and other stakeholders collaborate on a particular matter, or set of matters, and by changing the day to day operational delivery of work product. We are keenly aware that this is a radical departure from the status quo. But we also know that these technologies are "production ready" today, and are already used by firms who want to consider opportunities for improvement in both effectiveness and efficiency (see people, process and platform). Not all services must be implemented at once, or ever. You can pick and choose services that address your most critical needs. Some services provide a subscription pricing model and therefore do not require long term contracts. Although there is nothing that would prevent large firms from adopting these services, we expect that solos and boutiques will lead the adoption cycle.
